The UK and New Zealand, at first glance, are vastly different countries. In location, in landscape, in people, in customs, in business. But there is also much shared by the 2 nations, not least a similar value set.
Yet the UK and New Zealand experiences of the global Covid19 crisis have been starkly different.
Why?
That is what I wanted to find out. So, I set up a conversation across the 11,500 miles with 2 experienced New Zealand business representatives, to uncover why our early experiences of the impact of the Covid19 crisis on businesses has been so different.
A recent Deloitte report found a startling lack of preparation for the impacts of the Fourth Industrial Revolution:
But the more progressive organisations and forward-thinking leaders are considering it. And they are specifically considering what it means in terms of their organisation’s new ways of working and the corresponding skill sets needed.

Failing to persuade your client with your complex data insights? Losing sales as a result, or project momentum or client attention?
Consider translating your graphs, charts and detailed data tables into a compelling idea instead.
You can do that through data storytelling.
I realised that gut instinct will only get you so far when making difficult decisions, following my recent participation in the Leadership Conversations hosted by St George’s Society of Leadership Fellows, Windsor Castle.
Far better to engage with others to get vital input from a diverse range of perspectives and make a sound decision.

Not quite how the Bee Gees had it in their 'Stayin' Alive' original soundtrack, but a real eye-opener to us all at the 'WondrousWomen@Work'© event in London recently.
Although we were a group of experienced professional women (and a man too!), we each learned very specifically how our own physical entry into a standard business meeting room created a wide range of perceptions in the minds of the others in the room.
We were all born with the innate ability to communicate our ideas and needs very clearly from our very first hours of life.
So what changes to make so many of us nervous or uncomfortable when communicating our ideas? Life experiences, social norms and external influences all take their toll on our self- confidence.
Happily, a few techniques and the patience to practice is all it takes to transform your delivery and your outcomes as a result.
